Afro Latino Festival – Sydney 2010

The first Afro Latino Festival in Sydney took place on Saturday 21st May 2010 and was a great success with over 1000 people attending!

Afro Latino Festival 2010 brought together African and Latin American communities to promote, strengthen and celebrate their cultural heritage and diversity.

An extraordinary ensemble of cultural performances from Latin America and Africa performed, including Afro Peruvian Project, Capoeira Angola, Brisas del Peru, Burundian Choir, Asi es Colombia, Ethiopian performers, Candombe Urumbe and many others.

The Festival literally kicked off with its very own Afro-Latino Soccer Cup & Basketball Cup, followed by a free BBQ.  The Cultural Fashion Parade showcased true Afro-Latino styles.  And as if this was not enough, there was an Arts and Crafts Showcase. Children were able to participate in some fun activities such as face painting and games!

Afro Latino Festival 2010 was proudly supported by the NSW Government – Community Relations Commission, NSW Spanish and Latin American Association for Social Assistance, Fairfield Police, The Congolese Community of Australia Inc, Burundian Community Care, Fairfield Migrant Resource Centre and Fairfield City Council.
